Our brand new venue, will combine rustic charm with a fresh new Mediterranean inspired energy. Originally built between 1844 and 1847 as a working farm and later transformed into a pub by landlord Mr Charles Elliot, The Star Inn has long been a local favourite. Over the next few months we will be transforming the space to introduce Ego Mediterranean to Kingsclere, creating a vibrant new destination for relaxed, flavour-filled dining.

At Ego, we serve the very best Mediterranean-inspired cuisine – from our take on a Spanish Paella to Italian pasta inspired by Amalfi, Greek kebabs, to Moroccan spiced delights. Our extensive menus feature everything from chargrilled steaks to wood-fired pizza. we also have plenty of vegan, NGCI and children’s options available ensuring there’s something for everyone, every day of the week – whether it’s a midweek treat, a family gathering, or special occasion.

For those looking to dine al fresco, our newly refurbished beer garden will offer a beautiful outdoor setting — perfect for summer lunches, sunset cocktails, and weekend brunches.

We’re also proud to welcome dogs in our designated dog-friendly areas, both inside and out. After a long walk through the Kingsclere countryside or along the Millennium Trail, stop by and unwind with Mediterranean plates and a refreshing drink — while your four-legged companion enjoys water bowls and treats, just for them.
